Wednesday 18th March

On Monday evening Boris Johnson announced that everyone who can work from home, should work from home as he unveiled his social distancing policy. Pubs, clubs and other social spaces have not been closed but the public have been advised to avoid these areas to curb the spread of the virus.

As the announcement finished, our Director told us that as of Tuesday we will all be working from home until told otherwise. There was a strange feeling in the office as only half of us were in, we were due to move office mid-week and the uncertain future of the country was playing on our minds.

I worked from home on Tuesday but arranged for my mum to pick me up and take me home that evening. Hasan came with me and will be working from my mum’s house until the end of the week. It has been hard to concentrate as a lot of the work that I had live has either been put on hold or cancelled. My days have consisted of making BD calls and having the same conversation around Coronavirus and how businesses are reacting to the majority of staff working from home. One of my clients described it as the Industrial Revolution of Working From Home.

I’m going to take this time to read and write more – I want to develop my writing so that I can secure a content writer/research role in the future. The next book on my list is Nudge by Thaler and Sunstein – Johnson’s government have been using the theory in this book to shape public policy so it’s an apt read.

As I write, Lana is on the phone to my mum as she prepares herself to come home with Nick.
Dulcie managed to get an earlier flight home from Canada and arrived this morning. We are just missing my dad who is still in China working 7 days per week.
