It has been a long time since my last post and a lot has happened! I had an offer accepted on a house with Dulcie, secured a new role, got made redundant from my previous company and have spent a lot of time with Marta. I have also discovered Philosophy Tube on YouTube which has led me to learn a lot about Marx, Lenin and Stalin. I think I have had so much time off writing as I spent a solid 2 weeks (probably more) on focusing on getting a new job. My exercise regime went out the window as did healthy eating. All I could think about was (at the time) potential redundancy and about my up-coming interview.
I’ve got just over 3 weeks off before I start my new job so my plan is to get back in to good habits. It’s basic things like making my bed every morning as soon as I get up; brushing my teeth straight away and completing an exercise routine (or doing at least some form of exercise). I need to start building my cardiovascular back up so will start rowing for 100m every day so that I’m in the habit. Other areas to improve include reading every day, getting an earlier nigh and waking up at 7am. Also – probably most importantly I need to write one sentence on here every day so that I build up a writing habit. I feel this blog could become about recruitment, the cloud (or whatever area I specialise in at my new company), the process of getting habits on track (like James Clear). This week I have learned how important it is to make your bed first thing in the morning – completing it gives you that first hit of dopamine (or whatever the right chemical is) of the day and you feel proud of yourself for making the right decision. This little hit puts you in a good mood and you feel emboldened to tick off the rest of the things on your list. To emphasise this point, on Monday I woke up late, didnt make my bed and didnt end up doing much with the whole day. On Tuesday I woke up and immediately made my bed. I then got my mum to sort through some photos from the room off of Dulcie’s bedroom. Today I woke up, made my bed and then went straight downstairs to do a workout. Whilst writing I have just realised that this is what the name of my 1st alarm should be – 7am Make your bed. I’m going to sort my alarms now and will see if this picks up properly tomorrow. My second task will be to “plan my day” at 7:05am-7:30am. Hopefully I will need less time than this in the future. Let’s see where we go from there!
