I’ve been teaching myself Polish this morning. I’ve learnt how to introduce myself both formally and informally – Dzien dobry! My plan is to do a little bit every day so that when I eventually meet Marta’s family I’ll be able to say a few things to her grandparents.
Ive also read another chapter of “The Perils of Perception”. I’m enjoying the book so far but haven’t learnt anything that I hadn’t already come across just yet. However, in the first chapter, Duffy stresses that most people have too limited an understanding of mathematics to make sense of probability and his research (https://www.ipsos.com/ipsos-mori/en-uk/age-big-data-and-focus-economic-issues-trust-use-statistics-remains-low) also indicated that parents are far more concerned with their children’s ability to read and write than their mathematical ability. This reminded me that I had wanted to write a book on Mathematics to make it more interesting and accessible – I want to write a book that shows how useful maths is and give some historical context to it. I will now read and write about maths daily so that I can slowly put something together. By doing this I will also understand mathematical concepts better as you only truly understand something if you can teach it.
Mum is off to see Billy today and is staying over at Lana’s so I’ll have the house (and dogs) to myself until Dulcie gets back from work. I haven’t been outside much in the last 2 days so I should take the dogs out later today.
My back still hurts a little. I need to do my pain relief glute medius exercises and if it isn’t too bad I’ll do the press up routine.
