Last night we went to the Alchemist in Liverpool on Brunswick Street where we had a few cocktails and something to eat. I had was a chilli margarita and a mad hatter – both were good. The mad hatter was made up with vodka, citrus, st. germain, cointreau and summer fruits. The fruits were in a container above the alcohol. The alchohol was then heated, it rose above and infused with the fruit and then dripped back below. Following this the drink was then poured into a container with dry ice which cooled it down and made it smoke. It tasted a bit like a vodka version of pimms.
This morning we drove to Blackpool, had some fish and chips, walked up the pier and headed home. It was tackier than I had imagined and being on the pier felt like going in a time-warp back 60 years. Whilst I’m glad I visited, I have no intention of going back.
I’m currently back at the hotel. I’m going to listen to my recruitment podcast, read some more of my book and then we will head out for something to eat.
