Sunday 16th August

I’ve had a real lazy day today. I woke up around 8am and spent most of the day in my room on the computer. Normally I’d feel a bit guilty about this but it’s my last day off before starting my new job tomorrow and it’s been good to do absolutely nothing. It’s now 16:51 so I can still tick of my list of jobs before I go to bed. I have finished tidying/sorting my room and I’ve set up my work laptop.

I’m looking forward to tomorrow – I’ve got a full week of training/meeting people over Zoom. It will be interesting to see how I get on with ticking off my habits with a full day of work on the agenda. I will make sure my clothes are all sorted for tomorrow so I can just get up and get ready.

A new start with a new, smaller business is just what I need. I’m looking forward to making my mark and taking the net step in my career. The time off has been great for me; it’s allowed me to reset, build in new habits and have a new perspective on what I want. I am most pleased with my consistency in writing. I’ve hardly missed a day for the last couple of weeks and it is slowly helping me explain myself more coherently. I also plan to write a monthly blog on both the recruitment and IT industries. I will also assess my days and weeks so that I am consistently measuring my development.

I spoke to Marta last night over a video call. Whilst I miss being with her it is nice that I can see and hear her. Hopefully she won’t need to quarantine when she gets back to London.

As of last night, my mum has decided to do a technology detox as she has been working herself up over Covid/conspiracy theories/propaganda. She’s seemed good today so hopefully she can keep it up.

My back still hurts – I need it to get better soon as it’s stopped me from exercising and I feel a bit fat and lethargic. I’m hoping I’ll be able to play rugby on Thursday this week – I am in desperate need of a run around!
